Roving

A loose assemblage of fibers drawn or rubbed into a single strand with very little twist. It is an intermediate state between sliver and yarn.

Ring Spinning

A system of spinning that employs the ring spinning frame, which drafts the roving, twists the yarn and winds it on the bobbin, simultaneously and continuously.

Rapier Loom

A type of shuttleless loom in which the filling yarn is shot through the shed by the use of a rapier or projectile.
